Deal or no Deal – Spy & Stalk Edition

Remember the other week we posted a deal or no deal that had to do with paying people dressed up as paparazzi to chase you around? Here is this week’s deal regarding paying to SPY on people for fun. SAY WHAT?! Check it out below:

Your mission, if you choose to accept it, is to pay to spy on friends and family for fun. That sounds a little weird, doesn’t it? Does it come with a restraining order?

Running around in spy gear and being a creeper doesn’t sound thrilling to us. This has been stamped a deal FAIL!

Daily Deals & Animals

I love daily deals. There are hundreds and hundreds of daily deal sites out there, and so many of them have boring names that I will never remember. However, there are a few with clever names that make me laugh and that are memorable. It turns out that all of these have animal related names. Here are some of my favorites:

  • One of the best names is DealChicken, where daily deals are “being hatched daily.” They’re only available in select cities at the moment, but how irresistible is this little mascot below?!
  • Another good one isTown Hog where you can find great food deals in any category. Mmm mmm good! Oink!
  • Don’t miss CatchTheMonkey, a daily deals site coming to Ireland soon!
  • “Hopping” over to Vegas any time soon? How cool is RabbitPack
  • My last favorite one is DealStork where deals are “delivered to your city daily”! Where will the deal stork pop up next?!

It seems that there’s just something about animals that scream discount! What do you think LifestaLovers? What are some of your favorite sites?

Whether you’re in Ontario, Vancouver or Toronto, make a splash in your big city and have all eyes on you. As it says in the description, admit it, you know you want a paparazzi trailing you for a day screaming your name and making you feel like star!

Social Media Gone Wild!

Simply put, I love social media. Luckily I have the opportunity to do it for a living at Lifesta. We are a very social media driven company (be sure to add us on Facebook and Twitter!). We tweet deals to you, our amazing followers, have fun iPad 2 contests for Facebook fans, and love to interact and engage with you. It’s definitely a powerful tool to connect with fans.

But what is the actual power of social media on an individual basis? It just so happens that one of my friends told me this past week that he doesn’t believe in the power of LinkedIn and other social media sites. So we made a bet (to his dismay). Check out the dialogue below:

  • My friend who shall not be named: “Yeah, LinkedIn isn’t that great. It’s a bunch of old people trying to use something that they think is Facebook but less advanced.”
  • LifestaLarry: “Oh really?”
  • My friend who shall not be named: “Well wanna bet that it isn’t that great everyone thinks it is?”
  • LifestaLarry: “Sure, I love bets.”
  • My friend who shall not be named: “What you say you make a post on LinkedIn and every comment and message you get on that post you get a dollar from me over a week’s time.”
  • LifestaLarry: “OK, sure, good luck to you my friend….”

So, from then on, I decided to run my own experiment on my LinkedIn account last week. I posted this message on LinkedIn:

“I had a bet with one of my friends today. He thinks that using LinkedIn is a waste of time and does not see the benefit. So he has agreed to give me $1 for every like/comment I get. Considering I have over 555 connections I’m sure I can get something out of this! Start liking and commenting on this update people!”  Check out the post here.

Let’s just say that in a week’s time and after 3,350 likes, 999 comments, and over 200 profile views per day, my friend most definitely lost his bet. That, my friends, is the power of social media!

What do you think? Tell us your experiences with social media!

Deal or no Deal – Dog Edition!

Lifesta loves dogs! We love them so much that our mascot has become a little pug named Pugsta. Have you spotted him around the site yet? Meet him here:

Isn’t he precious? Well, we don’t think he would approve of the following Groupon deal for today’s Deal or no Deal! Check it out below.

Let’s Evaluate:

The deal description says its not valid for 24 hours until after purchase, but what if PUGSTA NEEDS TO GO PUP-PEE RIGHT NOW!? I say stick to the “Four Paws Wee-Wee pads” for much cheaper and easier clean up!

Also, I noticed that in order to go PUP-PEE, you gaze into the sky to the right. What are the adorable puppies, along with Lifesta’s Yael and Eran looking at? This deal is 2 paws down!

Daily Deals in the Summer

It’s my favorite time of the year! The sun is shining, the weather is warm, and that means one thing: its time to get my travel on! I am always looking for a great deal on the go when I am travelling so I can try new things I haven’t tried before and so that I can save money at the same time. As always, I want to share with you tips for summer travel and how you can utilize daily deals in the summer:

  • There has been a lot of buzz about “daily deals in the air”. An article just came out that covers how Gilt Groupe is partnering with Gogo and various airlines for exclusive online and in-air daily deals shopping. Would you use this?
  • I have been trolling Lifesta quite a bit (as one would suspect), and I have come across lots of cool travel deals lately. I am thinking about getting one of the deals and just going without thinking about it! 50% off for a 4-night stay in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico? I’m so there! Groupon Getaways and LivingSocial Escapes are the places I check out for massive savings on trips around the world.
  • Nice hotels are never cheap. Travelocity always has sweet deals available and makes it really easy to book rooms through their website. I think I am going to get this $100 Tippr deal for only $50 to use when I make a reservation.
  • When I travel, I read a lot. I don’t have an iPad 2 (we will find out soon which 3 lucky winners will get one from our giveaway!) but I still like reading physical books on the plane and the beach. Barnes and Noble is my go-to for all things reading related, and check out their awesome Summer Sale now!

I am getting out of my San Francisco routine and going to Los Angeles and San Diego this summer to spend some time in the sun and sand. What are your travel plans this (hopeful) endless summer? How do you save money during this season? Tell us all about it!

Happy Summer,

Larry
